VJ Day 80th Anniversary 80km Challenge
As Europe celebrated the surrender of German forces on VE Day thousands of British, Commonwealth and Allied Armed Forces personnel were still involved in bitter fighting in the Far East.
Victory over Japan day on 15th August marks the surrender of Japan, which in effect ended the Second World War. For months after VE Day on 8 May 1945 war continued to wage in the Asia-Pacific region and only came to an end after two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
By 1945 across Asia and the Pacific there were 365,000 British and 1.5 million Commonwealth troops were deployed.
10% from every entry fee will be donated to Help for Heroes.
We have launched an 80km target for our Special VJ Day Challenge.
The medal is a double sided beautiful gold chrome star, the front side, along with the ribbon, is a faithful recreation of the 'Pacific Star'- awarded to all operational service during the Second world War. The reverse carries the 80th anniversary logo.
The medal is in production now, and will be the same size and design as the VE Day medal, with the different ribbon and Pacific star detail.
